Do you think this guy is just scared of committment?

I feel that he is just scared of committment & if I stick around, he'll come around. He has only dated me once a month or so and we've only been out twice. He writes the most deepest and intimate poetry and sends the poems to me for my critique, as I do send him mine. He said he's scared of getting hurt & told me that he has told no one else that before. He plays games w/me, though, giving me bait, saying he is holding a tender kiss and a warm embrace for me, but he doesn't follow this up with action. He said he will cook me dinner, but hasn't. I tried asking him out for a 3rd date & it was like pulling teeth hinting at it, so I asked him, he accepted, but I backed out because I thought he wasn't interested. He did say he hopes we go out soon, but hasn't asked me out again. Do you think he could be a nice guy just scared of committment, but if I'm patient, maybe he'll come around? He knows I really like him, I'm positive, and he isn't a shy guy. He doesn't have a girlfriend, to my knowledge, as I've been to his house briefly. Thx!
